Sorry about your puppy's leg! I went through the exact issue with my little guy back in February. I was also devastated to hear the cost of the surgery however if both bones are broken (ulna and radius) which was the issue in my case then surgery seemed to be the only option for full recovery. The specialist told me that the only other option would be amputation as the bones will not stay in place with just a cast and heal on their own. I am so thrilled with the results. After 12 weeks of follow up appointments and X-rays etc. the leg was perfectly healed and he is now able to run and jump and play as he was before. It is a huge financial decision but honestly you could waste a lot of money and suffering attempting to cast over and over. I saw 3 vets in my area and all of them said they wouldn't even waste their time casting it won't work. Best wishes to you! I'm sure you are feeling very helpless I know the feeling!
