How did you position Sammie when you tried? I find that with me sitting in a chair and laying Lexi on her back between my legs is the easiest. It seems to relax her more and she had a harder time wiggling away. I do this when I trim the hair on her feet and face too. In the beginning she did try to bite at my hands, but I would close my hand over her muzzle until she stopped biting. Eventually she realized it was easier and quicker just to let me do what I needed to do. And I gave lots of praise and kisses after each nail I clipped. There is also the option of getting the vet or groomer to do it. I just refuse to pay $15 each time to have the vet do it!
