Macy is a registered therapy dog. We have just started visiting a nursing home about 10 minutes from our house every Wednesday for an hour.
I love how the residents all want to pet her and start telling stories about their dog when they were growing up or the dog they had to leave behind when they came to the nursing home. I have one man that has never talked since he has been in the nursing home but will interact with Macy by sticking his tongue out at her and last week he clearly said "how are you doing" to Macy. The Activities Director was amazed and almost started to cry. If you have a dog that is friendly, not timid and you think would make a good therapy dog, please look into doing something like this. You don't know how much a visit from a dog will brighten someone's day.
