 Robin Williams/ depression / your dog
Thinking about Robin Williams, I am of the age where I remember Mork and Mindy, and followed his career from Dead Poet Society to Ms Doubtfire. He could make me laugh and cry. My prayers go out to everyone that suffers in in the desperate silence of depression, and considers this end an option.
As a nurse, I see the comfort a dog can bring to a suffering human. Perhaps they can smell or sense illness? When I worked in the children's hospital, we allowed dogs to visit. They children would light up when a dog came into their room. A dog can offer comfort, joy and friendship to those in need. Our current company donates to shelters and humane causes. Lately we supported service dogs, and two of these were YORKIES! Yes, your dog!
I ask you to consider sharing a furry friendship with those in need. A quick visit to a nursing home or hospital will bring joy. Even a visit to a suffering or elderly friend, remember to bring your dog. |
