I can't imagine it NOT hurting. The needle is huge. The chip is the size of a grain of long grain rice, so you can imagine how large that needle needs to be to put it in. I have chips in their needles sent to me from YTNR when I have a foster that needs a chip so I've seen them up close. Katie had a big dried up clump of blood at the site. But it's better to do it than not.

Also, don't get a chip and then forget to register it!
