When my babies were learning they could jump on the sofa and the bed, if I was not where I could watch them I would put "stuff" on the sofa and bed to prevent them from jumping until they were big enough to do it without hurting them selves. You can use pillows, blankets, anything, put it close to the edge where they can see there is a blockage. Only allow them on sofa or bed when you are with them,then watch them like a hawk, if you see they want off, pick them up and place on the floor. All my puppies were not tiny, at adults their weights ranged from 10 to 17 lbs, so at age 5 or 6 months they were strong enough to jump on and off things.
