Sakura has seasonal allergies everytime the seasons changes and has itchy paws. When it gets really bad I give her some prescription Vetadryl. Benadryl just made her throw it up. I also see that if the hair between her paw pads starts getting long she chews too. Keeping her paws trimmed helps too.
If the Benadryl didn't do anything I would say get the fur trimmed between her paw pads. It always helps Sakura.
