Hopefully its not as bad as a heat condition but will ask my vet about it. In 2 weeks time though Ava and Zoe are scheduled to take medications for heart worms.
Thankfully this has not happened again since the incident 3 days ago. Ava is 7 months old and weighs 1.15 kgs (about 2.5 lbs).
The vet first examined her spine and told me that her spine was okay. Then the vet examined if she can walk properly - it was also okay. Then CBC and blood chem was done, the results were again okay. The vet informed me that it found nothing wrong with Ava instead advised me to monitor the situation vigilantly for the next 2 days and bring her back immediately if this happens again. After that, she prescribed Ava with Vitamin B complex as supplement for nerves.
Yeah you're right. It can be anything from seizures, liver shunt etc. Even thought that Ava can be a drama queen at times, I'm quite sure though that what I saw was genuine since she collapsed and tilted the 2nd time around after I got her up. |
Had she eaten anything different that day or been passing any gas or acting restless - getting up and changing positions often anytime before she went down? I swear this sounds so much like what my Scotty did that one time he had bad gas. I didn't smell him passing it or anything but the doctor showed me his belly was a bit tense and distended and said likely as soon as I got him up and excited going in the car, moving about, he'd passed some of the worst of the gas and then the doctor gave him that simethicone-based tummy cocktail, he was fine from then on. It is true that some Yorkies are drama queens when they suddenly feel bad or face something new they haven't experienced before, but still, it's worrisome that you vet didn't really find anything to even start to explain this.
My vet said it wasn't a common reaction but he had seen more than one Yorkie with belly pain refuse to stand or walk and I tended to believe him as he did have a big toy dog practice. Don't know if that was really true or he just said it to tamp down my panic that Scotty had something horrible going on but thankfully, he was fine after that dramatic episode. I hope your little one has no more problems like that!
