I also agree that a crate would be better. This is a new, probably scary experience for her and she may feel safer and secure in the crate. Maybe stop halfway back home and let her out for a few minutes. When I got Lexi, it was a 1.5 hour drive. She barked for about 5-10 minutes in the crate and then slept most of the way home.
