Default For those of you who groom at home....

What all do you do? So far, I am fine with bathing, brushing and de-tangling of course (thankfully matted puppy fur days are behind us!). And I'm comfortable with sanitary trimming, some paw trimming, some ear edge trimming, face trimming and overall length trimming, all with scissors. I'm not comfortable at all with electric clippers, so the hair between the toes is probably not short enough and the overall coat is too thick and heavy for summer. Haven't shaved the tops of the ears (and my breeder said to avoid as it can make the ear leather too rough) and forget any ear plucking or nail trimming as I would get this done at the vet.

I just tried watching a Yorkie grooming DVD and it honestly looks even harder than I imagined. The poor little dog used as a model was so nervous and this was with an experienced groomer. Didn't care for how the dog was handled around the throat.

If I can master the clippers to just thin out the coat to be cooler, I think I would be satisfied. What is the downside of not clipping (with electric clippers) between the pads or other hard to get at areas?
