I am so sorry for your loss of Elliemae. It is one of the hardest things in life to deal with is a loss of a loved one. I had to put my two dachshunds down in July of 2011. I had both of them since they were 8 weeks old. Fritz was 16 and Hershey was 9. The first several months of them gone I swear I would hear barking every now and then. We did not think we were ever going to have anymore dogs. However, at the beginning of this year my daughter convinced me to get another dog. She has a yorkie and she started sending me pictures of baby yorkies. I didn't want to get another dachshund because I felt like I was replacing my two that had passed. Needless to say I did my research and looked for a good breeder and lord and behold we now have our yorkie boy Remy. Take the time to heal and maybe in the future your husband will change his mind. It's probably just too soon for him. I wish you the best and remember each day will get better. Think about the last 16 happy years Elliemae gave you and your family and that you will see her again!
