When I start potting training my pups I usually have the whole floor of the x-pen covered with pee pads so they get use to using them. As they get older I start removing some of the pads and I enlarge their play area. One thing about puppies is that when they are in a pen they like to run up to the front of the pen close to where they are picked up. For that reason I always put their pads at the far end of the pen.
