I say go for it if you are ready to handle two dogs. They will be company for each other. I would get a male so they are more compatible with each other. Males are actually more affectionate but know that you will lose some of her with the new pup. At first you may have to ignore her somewhat so she will begin to bond with the male, but after some time it will balance out.
