When my Cavalier, Luke, started doing "the butt scoot" (that's what we call it) I would haul him right off to the vet, sure he had full anal glands or worms, or something just as bad, but most times they found no problems. He's 6 now, and I realized several years ago that it's just something he does after he poos. Whether I wipe him with a baby wipe or not (when on a walk he'd be too embarrassed, jk), he always does it, preferably in the grass. It's really become a great way to keep track of when he goes!

Wanted to add: Whenever my mother's Cavalier does it, for her it means her anal glands are full. You'll have to get to know what's normal for your pup!
