Restraining is an absolute must,even stopping short can throw him off the seat onto the floor, I have had this happen years ago. After that happened I would tie their leash to the seat belts, thank goodness they invented restraining belts. I suggest a booster seat, all dogs like to look out of the window, these lil babies are to small and these newer cars have such high windows. You'll be amazed how much he would enjoy seeing out of the window.
