Default vaccines

Our vet, that does annual vaccination, told me today that they use vaccines that are supposed to be given every year, and that they are different from those given every 3 yrs. That basically, there's a version of the DAP good for 1 year, and another version of the DAP that is good for 3+ years. Is this true, or is there 1 version that each vet decides how often to re-vaccinate?
