This doesn't really apply to me since I have never purchased a Yorkie from a breeder, mind have been rescues/rehomes. That said, I have considered and looked into buying one, and agree that from a reputable breeder that is health testing, breeding with a purpose and to improve the breed, and really researching their pedigrees and bloodlines for any possible problems before breeding, you are generally looking at paying $1000 - $2000 minimum for a pet. Usually more if you want to show. So your baby probably came from a back yard breeder who didn't spend the time or money to do things right to insure a healthy dog free of genetic problems and was just making some extra cash off her puppies.
