Frontline is proving to be not 100% effective in some areas, like here in the Central Atlantic states. I don't know if the formula has changed, or if the fleas are growing immune to it. We have only seen one flea this year, but it is still early. August through October will be the true test.

Had 2 ticks this year, 1 on Teddy and 1 on me. Caught them both before they had a chance to bite. I didn't have my Frontline though.
Also, it's not said in her post that there are different types of diatomaceous earth. IMO this should have clearly been stated in the suggestion. You are very correct that it's dangerous when inhaled. Personally, I'd stick with vacuuming and frontline and not be sprinkling dust about my home and bedding.
