I always throw all my reciepts in a show box along with any tags attached to an item saying it is warranted. I once had a bathroom rug that had rubber on the back that started peeling off after about two years. Just for the heck of it I tried to return it with the tags. They took it because it was still under warranty. I was surprised it was so easy and it was covered.

I was at a grocery store when an older man came in carrying a raw turkey. I had to see what he was gong to do with it so I watched him (nosey, I know). He told the woman at the return counter his wife wanted him to return the turkey because the giblets were missing. After the woman closed her mouth she gave him his money back.
