Yes, it must be that your pet insurance will only cover a spay until 8 months old. I've read that before on YT where there is a set amount of time for the spay/neuter to be covered by insurance plans. I am almost positive they would not give preoperative directions over 2 months before the procedure. Usually, the vet will call the night before her scheduled surgery with instruction. It's also a great idea for you to get her chipped at the same time. You are being a responsible good pet owner.
