When Gracie was a puppy I pushed the bed against the wall so she could sleep on it at night but we still had at least 3" of space between the bed and the wall. I purchased one of those body pillows to fill in the space. I don't know if that would work with a couch though. If you got it snug enough you could cover the pillow with kind of attractive throw or some material that coordinates with the couch.
I know how they love to lay on the back of furniture. Gracie doesn't want to lay on the back of the couch though. She wants to lay on the back of our rocker recliner
like the cats do. I have had quite a time trying to break her of that one. Much like a cat she will try to get away with it when she thinks I'm not looking.
