Truthfully, you should probably not allow him up there he could easily fall and break a leg. When they are young puppies their growth plates have not closed and a break could happen very easily. But I shouldn't talk because all 3 of mine love the back of the couch and sleep there all the time. They have fallen and luckily for them they are all bigger and no injures. Also the back cushions on mine are very wide.
