I don't plan on agreeing with everyone's posts. But don't think for a minute I won't say something about it.
Having a newcomer on here reading posts like "coffee is toxic but my dog is 7yo and I give him a cup daily!" Is dangerous. My input here is needed for new dog owners that might make the mistake of trusting the people whose dogs are EXCEPTIONS and not the general rule. But even with exceptions, there is still a possibility if a bad outcome one day.
I assume you mean me with the 7 year old comment (btw he was 17). He used to get into my Grandmom's coffee and take a few licks a few times a week, Lola got into mine a few times.
Even though the coffee has caffeine in it it's diluted by the cream/milk and they didn't get that much of it. My Grandmom's yorkie probably drank more cream than coffee.

The median lethal dose of caffeine for dogs is 140 mg/kg, so the median lethal dose for a 5lb (2.7kg) dog is 378mg. An 8oz cup of coffee has 95-200mg of caffeine in 8oz.
This is why I believe a few licks will not hurt my dog; I research everything before I give it to her, or loosen up on keeping her from it, and make educated decisions.

I've had 5 dogs over 24 years, they lived long and healthy lives, apparently I'm doing something right. Now I have Lola and she's a very healthy 1.5 year old.
