I think that is always a concern. That's why if I get a second, I want to do it now while she is still young and not used to being the only dog in the house. Just because she likes being the "alpha" doesn't mean she wouldn't like having someone to play with. From what I have read there in always a pack order among dogs, and that's normal. Maybe others who commented can give more advice on that.
