Question Adding a second

I know there has been some recent threads about getting a second yorkie, and I am in the same boat with some more questions. Right now I have Lexi, a maltese/yorkie mix who is almost 7 months old. I would love to get her a playmate. After her obedience class she was so excited to meet new dogs and run around with them, but she was just too small to really play with them and ended up just standing next to me. That's when I thought she needed a friend closer to her size. She weighed in at 4.4 lbs at the vet today and may make it to her estimated 5 lbs. If I get another, I would like one closer to 6-7 lbs although I know there is no way to know for sure.

Few questions/concerns. I have this (irrational?) fear of getting a boy. I always hear about marking and Lexi was so easy to potty train. Are boys harder to potty train? I also hear horrible things about having two girls (fighting, etc?) Is this something that I should be worries about?

Those who have 2, how long did it take for your first pup to get adjusted to the new one, and how long until you where able to leave them home alone together without separating them?
