I have kept my adults on puppy food just about their whole life and I have not had any issues. A few times over the years I would try to give them adult food and they did not seem to like it as well so I just switch back to the puppy food. I think it would depend on what brand of food you feed. At one point I was feeding Canidae which is an all stages of life food. Then I switched to Chicken Soup dry puppy food. I just think it is best to feed them a dog food that is not more than 28% protein. At least that is what has worked for me.
