I've only ever plucked one of my dogs ears (border collie-years ago), but he managed to fill his ears with soil, and I do mean fill. It took ages to clean out, I plucked his ears for a few months as he had issues for a short while.( he had vet treatment also)

After reading here, it seemed if most plucked their yorkie, so when at the vets we asked their advice and they said not too, the dogs didn't need it or unless it was something we really wanted to do. I got the feeling they thought it was more of a fashion fad, when it's not needed.
