I pluck the ear hair. I used my fingers to dig in and pull it out for years but recently bought a little tweezor shaped like scissors from Jenny at TopLinePet and it works great. I do a little at a time. I also use Bio-groom ear cleaner liquid weekly after a bath. We had ear infections early on in puppyhood but since using Bio-Groom at every bath we have not had any further issues. I think it's great stuff, and I am of the opinion that ear hair should be plucked out. My vets always pluck it out when the dogs are under anesthesia too.
