Bogey had an ear infection from not having his ear hair plucked. They were going to a groomer but I've been doing my own grooming. I think it actually depends on your Yorkie whether or not the hair needs to be plucked.
Chachi mentioned anal glands and Bogey also has an issue right around the same time as his ear infection. When I took him to the vet I was told "ears and rears" go together. Now I'm thinking it might have been caused by a food issue.
