I contracted to buy a puppy male from a litter before it was here because the background of the parents seemed to be what I wanted. Won't go into lots of details right now but this is the issue. He is not turning out to be what I wanted. I thought he would be small and a good possibility for show. He is not small. Breeder said this is biggest puppies she has ever had. She has been absolutely great but-------I thought dad was proven and she knew a bit about what he produced. This is his first litter. She is having trouble with ears. I had made a reservation to fly in and pick up pup at close to 12 weeks because when I used to breed (in the ancient day) , I never let a yorkie go until about then. He is 7 weeks and she said this week or next. Explained about flight. She said ok, would only owe for additional shots.(?)
I always vaxed a pup up to date as long as they were in my care and never charged. This made me very uncomfortable. Not until after I paid deposit did the price go on her website. I had a ballpark idea but it came in pretty high. $1600 or $1875 with AKC.
Now she is telling me how lonely he is going to be because his sister is leaving this weekend.
I am very tempted to sacrafice the $500 deposit and walk.
Please tell me your opinions as I have not been a breeder in over 20 years. I am older and want a small happy family. I can't collect dogs and I want the ones I have to be mine forever.
By the way. Decided since we are starting over our new name will be Phoenix Rising.
