I look forward to getting to know you as well. And I have no intention of treating you or anyone else like an "imbecile"...in fact my intention is the opposite. I believe in being respectful no matter what, including no matter how someone else is treating me.
So, I agree with most of what you said. Where our opinions diverge, however, is where you say you basically believe in respectful discourse -- at least until you're treated poorly, at which point it seems you believe in returning the favor. I
totally disagree with that direction. Because at that point, in my opinion, you become *exactly* like anyone else who treats others w/ disdain and disrespect. You truly cannot have it both ways - you have to decide...you can either be a respectful person, or a vindictive person...you can't have it both ways.
Anyway, thanks for posting a PSA. I'm sure some people need it, while others may not. Either way, it does no harm and could serve as a friendly reminder.
