Thanks everyone! MO shares a lot of excellent grooming tips on her site/blog. Since Maltese & Yorkies have similar hair, thought I'd share. It's a plus that she uses a lot of the Madan grooming tools too.

Maltese Obsession & I use the snag free bands. It's very thin & doesn't cling to hair like latex bands, so less breakage. You can get them @ walmart, any discount store or amazon. I have them on my site for $1. They're very inexpensive, so I don't feel bad snipping them off.
