Hi - welcome to YT and CONGRATS on your new kiddo ! I'll answer your questions in order:

1) Yes, he will get used to it, just takes a few/several times...it gets better.

2) He may be lethargic that first night and not feel great, but should snap back surprisingly even the next day. MAKE SURE you go home w/ pain meds and give them - even if you don't see pain (dogs mask it). Also make sure you ask "what should I do/give if the pain doesn't seem managed well" -- always have a pain plan!

3) Dogs communicate a ton through smells/their noses. Yes, let him smell and enjoy the walk's smells...but you can also teach him "let's go" for when you want to keep him moving a bit. You don't have to let him stop for every little smell.

4) Lol...sounds like a yorkie! They are indeed kissers. Good luck w/ that .
