I used to have a desktop and then upgraded to a laptop. I still have a laptop that I use occasionally; however, I use my Ipad all the time! And my iPhone! My iPad goes with me a lot. It is just so much easier than dealing with a bigger computer. So I totally understand these kids. Of course you are talking to a person with a masters degree in Ed Tech.
