Default Does my Yorkie know when the pavement is too hot for him?

Deuce likes to go out for a BM walk early in the AM and then at about 3:30 or 4:00 p.m.. It has been very hot the past few days. Part of our route is in full sun and the pavement is really hot. I tested it with my flip flops off and whoa!!!!

Well I encourage Deuce to walk on the grass between the sidewalk and street but no way. He likes to trot along on the sidewalk with an occasional stop on trees, telephone poles and grass. Actually he likes to walk on the curb when he can. Today after he did his business I picked him up and tried to carry him home. Of course he wouldn't have any of that. At what point do I say no more pavement buddy. I don't want him to burn his little paws??????

What's your thoughts about this?
