Do you know from the previous caretaker if he was potty trained at all? Outdoor or piddle pad?

I would start by limiting his freedom to roam in your house. You can keep him tethered to you or use baby gates to keep him in one area.

Although your door is open, take him into the yard. Do this when he first wakes up and after he eats, and after anything exciting like play, and at regular intervals. Establish keywords and phrases like "go potty." When you see him do it, praise him! Praise like he just performed the best trick ever. Give him a small reward, like a piece of kibble.

Praise, reward, and consistency will help.
