I'm glad you went to the vet! Allergies and infected anal glands actually go together. Did the vet suggest adding fiber like pumpkin to the food? Bogey had anal gland issues and my vet said "ears and rears" as in ear infections and anal gland issues. We finally got it under control but it did take some work. Are you taking her back for a recheck?
