Sophie is a lovely Yorkie. I think the RV lady's comments reveal an inferiority complex that imparts subsidiarity as a defence/release syndrome. Probably a highly insecure woman, who sensed the closeness you two had and needed to deflect her subconscious insularity and envy, by denigrating your Sophie.
My mother who was a wonderfully, elegant and attractively eccentric lady, aged 92, in a deep moment of reflection, once told a friend; 'Oooh my Albert's been gone 27 years now, and I do miss the car!
Pyscologically she was trying to cover her keen loss of my father, by attempting to conceal it's latter day relevance, without realizing how comical it sounded. It's a related similarity of condition.
She truly loved him every day they were parted, as I do both of them. |
