Could be MANY things... For Zoey, location doesn't matter so she'll always be on the defensive. I think it's just her "terrier" personality being dominant. My niece has a dog and have spent a lot of time with her but Zoey still goes on the defensive every time she sees her. But she does calm down a bit after a while.
Seriously... the only other "dog" Zoey likes (or puts up with) is Magnus... LOL
