A few weeks ago three dogs were killed by bee stings not far from where I live. The bees were going to be taken to TAMU to see if they were the African killer bees. I don't think anything could have saved these dogs as they were completely swarmed by the bees. Since then we have been paying more attention to the areas of the yard where Buster and Maggie like to play. Yes, be careful, you never know what is out there.
