I use those plastic finger brushes or a small toothbrush, and one of my two Yorkies made it 10 years on just two cleanings before needing any teeth pulled. My small Yorkie, however, lost 3 teeth at her 2-year cleaning and 7 teeth at 5 years recently. Genetics has a lot to do with it, of course.

A YorkieTalker friend uses a SoniCare on her dogs' teeth. She got them used to the sound slowly (there's a low setting on some sonicares). She says her vet raves about her Yorkies' teeth.

I tried it, and mine are terrified at the sound. I didn't get one with a low setting
