I had that very same thought,especially since you said she does it in front of you on the carpet. She may be trying to tell you something is wrong,perhaps? I say this because I had a dog that had been housetrained and well trained and then she started going in the house and one time she even went at the same time I was using the bathroom and looked at me while she went. I never thought then of a UTI but it may well be worth looking into.
