This puppy is truly a Maltese not a Westie. Maltese can have tan ears and lemon spot on back and still be pure bred. I'm the owner of a 1.5 year old maltese who weighs between 9.5-10lbs depending on how much hair he has. Once his hair grows back I wouldn't recommend cutting his ears or tail as it takes away from the breed look. He's a very cute little puppy.
