I think because I'm 'Mr Dependable' and always here for her, she actually has a far deeper affinity with me than either Irina or I imagined. I suppose as 'pack leader' I'm considered strong enough to look after myself and small absences to 'hunt for food' are accepted, even if the 'homecoming' welcomes are spectacular. However two nights away and alarm bells ring in her little head it seems? She's still glued to me like an appendage and checked up to see I was OK every time I stirred in the night. She stayed for ten minutes or so before eventually returning to Mom's room - her normal routine.
