So explain to me how purchasing from a Holistic vet a boat load of supplements, titers instead of vaccines at a 3 year or more rate, blood draws to check for HW (for those HW is poison peps) who instead chose things amber beads and Mosi-Q and vet visits TWICE a year to do all of the above is so not about the money these vets are making. I've heard it over and over that vets make money off the RX food they sell. But what about all of the supplements, blood work for checking HW and titers that are purchased from the Holistic vets?
Not to get completely off track, but I wonder about this too. I've been to a number of vet hospitals and most do suggest an annual visit and labs. I don't consider labs to be a "requirement" because the only "required" items are the ones that I want to pay for. For me, though, I usually lean heavy toward prevention and this has paid off to early identify problems and try to address them. Looking at your apparently healthy dog bopping around and assuming it is the picture of health is the wrong thing to do in my view because some things can't be seen by an owner at home (e.g. elevated liver enzymes, protein or crystals in urine, thyroid functioning, and the list goes on). So it is a good move in the long term to visit a vet for an exam and have them do some basic labs.
