Wow, 3 months is so long. I agree with you that since yorkies have hair.. 3 months is way too long. By 3 months he will get so greasy and dirty that it'll probably add on to the itching. I know someone who has a dog with itchy skin (to the point that patches of hair fall off). The dog is a bulldog but the condition improved after weekly baths with medicated shampoo. The vet actually said to wash more often vs washing less often. Oatmeal shampoo is also good for sensitive dogs.
I give my girl a bath every Sunday.. sometimes she'll go a few days more than that but her hair gets dirty by this time. I really can't imagine waiting 3 months. I agree with Wylies Mom that your yorkie is most likely having an allergy to something. I would get a second opinion with a different vet. |
