For those of you wondering why she has not be spayed yet. I have not been able to do so. I live in the UK and my vet scheduled her surgery half way through her next cycle. So essentially three months after her first heat, which is a month away.
Scheduling surgery half way through her next cycle is suppose to be safer because she will be less hormonal.

Can't add to what other posters have said about the heat cycle. I'm also from the UK and read online about studies that show it's best for the bitch to wait 3 mths after the cycle before being spayed.
Pippi's having her first season right now, we'll wait the 3 mths, then have her done too.
Hope all goes well for Piper. Apart from the season, does she seem her usual self?
