New Addition to the family I have been away for awhile mourning the loss of my beloved Brandi. She passed away Dec 01 2013 at the age of 13. She was diagnosed with liver shunts about a year ago which eventually she succumb too. I opted not to have surgery because the vet for her age it was too risky (plus her other issues, She was in liver failure) so I decided to manage her symptoms with medicine and a special diet. For the whole last year of life she show no signs of discomfort or pain. And then one day the symptoms reappeared.
Within 3 weeks of the first signs, I made the painful decision to have her put to sleep. I was able to say my goodbyes to her and I have her ashes in my bedroom. I know that sometimes she visits me and I take comfort in knowing that one day we will be together again. She was the love of my life and I still cry just as if it happened today. The pain has subsided but it does come in waves. I am even starting to cry while typing this.
Now on to some more up beat news. I recently saw a female yorkie on craigslist. I reluctantly emailed the owner and to make a long story short I have adopted a 2yr old female who is adorable. The woman took very good care of her she is beautifully groom and weighs about 6 lbs and very friendly and sociable. The verdict is still out on how her and my cat will get along but their first meeting went okay.
She walked into my house like she own the place and made herself at home as if she has been living here for years. When I saw her on craigslist I was like this must be a scam but as it turned out it was real and the woman only lived about an hour away. She recently started school so she works full time, goes to school part time and has a 1 year old son. She said she tried and did everything she could think of keeping her but in the end she felt Duchess was spending to much time alone.
Because of my yorkietalk profile and my facebook page which I sent her so she could see that I am a responsible owner she felt Duchess would have safe and loving home with me. She had many offers for her but I think it was my link to my yorkietalk profile that she decided to choose me. I paid the small (well more like medium small) rehoming fee and now I am the proud mama of a 2 yr old yorkie with a tail.
Her tail isn't docked which I am trying to get use too. She is not spayed and her shots are due so I will make a vet appointment for this week. Oh and get this she has all of her teeth. My beloved Brandi had lost all of her teeth so now I have to get used to brushing her teeth. I am trying to get a picture but she won't keep still. She doesn't walk she runs everywhere and so full of energy. This was literally the only picture I could get from her because she has been on the go since we got home today. I will try to get some more as this one isn't the greatest.
I still have to come up with a name. I don't really like the name Duchess any suggestions would be great. |
