If the shot the breeder is giving for parvo, is NeoPar, that is fine...it is usually given when the puppies are 3-4 weeks old, to provide a bridge of immunity until their puppy shots are started at 8 weeks old. NeoPar is not affected by maternal antibodies. As far as specific puppy shots go, you can go by Dr.Dobbs protocol for puppy shots....as far as Lepto goes, you need to know what the incidents of Lepto cases in your area have been. Is is prevalent in your area? You base your decision on that. We give the core vaccines...Lepto is not an issue here so my dogs do not get vaccinated against it. If you have to give it, preceed the injection with a shot of Benadryl at the vet office, wait 20 minutes, give the vaccinations, then hang around the vet office for 20-30 minutes to be relatively sure your pup will not experience anaphylactic shock.
