 After puppies
Hello everyone.
As some of you know, I recently acquired a retired breeding female Biewer. She had her puppies in March so it has almost been 3 months. I was told that it takes them approximately 3 months to get back to their old selves but was wondering how long it takes and how do I know when she has reached her ideal weight. I took her to the vet for her checkup and shots but unfortunately had a "brand new" vet who didn't go over many specifics with me. She said that Summer weighed 8.6lbs which was good. The thing that I am worried about is that I can still feel the bones in her spine when I pet her. That makes me think that perhaps she needs to gain some more weight, however I have no idea how much she should actually weigh. I am currently feeding her twice a day and good food as she seems to be hungry.
Does feeling her spine indicate she still has weight to put on? |
